Underwater Inspection, Survey & Intervention

"...effective engineering solutions..."

Specialised Remote Services can tailor inspection processes for oil & gas, wind & wave energy generation, subsea power & communications, cable lay & trenching, offshore construction, and maritime transport & shipping. We provide effective engineering solutions, safety, environmental, and construction services to deliver cost effective solutions in underwater inspection and intervention services.

Our ROVs have a minimum penetration length of 300m and can have a maximum of 2.5km enabling even the longest pipeline to be inspected internally

In Water Vessel Hull Inspections

Underwater Inspection in lieu of Drydocking (UWILD) is safer, faster and cheaper alternative for the required hull inspections without the need for the marine assets to be sent to the dry docks.

Wharf Mooring Inspections

Specialised Remote Services works closely with our clients and engineers to gain a complete understanding of scope and deliverables. Maintaining a clear understanding of the condition of underwater infrastructure and/or seabed conditions is crucial in ensuring the ongoing serviceability of those assets.

ROV Inspections of Moorings & wharf Infrastructure will collect the data for Diving intervention and remedial work to be carried out. This will assist our client’s asset management and engineering teams to develop the scope of work required to complete the intervention of maintenance and repairs of their assets.

No matter what your underwater inspection or survey requirements are, Specialised Remote Services can tailor a comprehensive solution and service.

Pipeline Inspections

The inspection and survey of underwater pipelines, external and internal inspections can be easily completed. SRS ROVs and Remote Crawling System RCS have multiple tooling equipment which can be tailored to the clients scope of work.

With a 2.5km tether we have the ability for long excursion inside pipelines – Intake and outflow pipe work.

The ROVs can perform corrosion measurements of subsea pipelines 3D modelling and profiling, and similar work on support pilings.

Potable water pipelines, desalinisation plants, and reservoir pipes can all be inspected internally enabling us to find the exact area where leaks may be occurring, potentially saving millions of litres of water.

ROV are used to inspect the internal condition/integrity of the potable water storage. This is to ascertain the level of sludge/sediment, report/record any maintenance, at the same time remove any small debris which could potentially cause issues at the outlet/vortex inhibitor. This can all be completed while the water storage stays online / in service.

SRS’s offshore industry standard ROV with 4K and HD cameras, grabber arms and additional lighting to carry out the inspection and debris removal works.

The ROVs undergo full function test and are disinfected, using a solution of Sodium Hypochlorite prior to entering the asset.

Fire Tank Inspections

Specialised Remote services have the ability to inspect Fire water storage tanks as per AS1851 Legislative Requirements.

Without regular internal inspections, fire water storage tanks can fall into disrepair with often costly repairs required.

The aim of regular inspections is to prevent small problems that are easily fixed from becoming expensive repairs or even full tank replacements.

Benefits of using an ROV for internal inspections

Internal AS1851-2012 fire tank inspections, regardless of the age, height or external state of the tank, are essential to ensure that a fire system operates without failure in an emergency.

  • Utilising a remote operated vehicle (ROV) to conduct these inspections allows:

  • All the internal components of a fire tank

  • The inspection to be recorded to provide evidence

  • Issues to be easily monitored as previous recordings can be reviewed and compared;

  • The water conservation aspects of AS1851-2012 and AS2304 to be met as there is no need to drain a tank to view internal items;

  • The life expectancy of a tank to be extended by identifying maintenance items early;

  • for better asset management through providing a greater understanding of the specific

    maintenance requirements required for each tank;

  • Fire service providers to clearly identify the state of the asset at the time it comes into their care.

    The following photographs demonstrate the benefits of internal ROV tank inspections. All photographs have been taken by The Tank Inspectors while undertaking AS1851 inspections with stills taken directly from ROV footage. All source pictures are verifiable.
